More than 150 people attended from far and wide, including many of the film’s stars and footage contributors. Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz was there too to welcome the crowd prior to the screening. RACE DAY made its debut at the O’Brien Awards Black-Tie Gala on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Delta Meadowvale in Mississauga, ON. Nearly 500 of harness racing’s biggest names were on-hand for the unveiling prior to the dinner and awards portion of the evening.

They laughed at the right parts, and clapped at the end!

Congrats to RACE DAY stars Jody Jamieson and San Pail who both picked up awards on Saturday night. Jody earned his third O’Brien for Driver Of The Year, and San Pail was voted Older Trotting Horse and Horse Of The Year!

The next event for RACE DAY is the Launch Party on Feb. 8/12 at Galaxy Cineplex Theatre in Milton, ON. Limited tickets are still available for $12 and can be purchased online.

RACE DAY premieres at the O’Brien Awards this Saturday night, before 400+ of the biggest names in harness racing.

We wish all of the nominees the best of luck, including the following RACE DAY contributors and stars: Jody Jamieson (Driver Of The Year), Randy Waples (Driver Of The Year), Broad Bahn (Three-Year-Old Trotter), San Pail (Aged Trotting Horse Of The Year – winner by unanimous vote) and Seelster Farms (Breeder Of The Year).

What does Captain Canada wear to the prom? We endeavored to find out. The RACE DAY Crew tagged along with World Driving Champion and O’Brien Award nominee Jody Jamieson and his lovely family as they shopped for a tux for the upcoming O’Brien Awards (Jan. 28/12).

Jody’s not only up for his third O’Brien Award for Canada’s Top Driver, but it will also mark his big-screen debut, as he’s one of the stars of RACE DAY which premieres at the gala event. Here’s your chance to watch RACE DAY on the big screen and rub shoulders  with some of harness racing’s biggest stars!  It’s an action-packed evening featuring photos on the red carpet with some of the cast members, fantastic prize draws, the RACE DAY documentary, an exclusive screening of the Race Day Bloopers Reel and a Q & A with some of the cast including Jody Jamieson, Anthony MacDonald, Randy Waples, Doug McNair, Rick Zeron and Phil Hudon.

RACE DAY was created with user generated content.  All of the footage used in the film was shot on one day, Saturday, August 6, 2011, by the people who love, live and breathe harness racing.  RACE DAY tells a story filled with colour, emotion, and characters of the greatest game in the world.
